Ajay Maken starts
trying for seventh Pay Commission.
Sh. Ajay Maken, Union Housing and Urban Poverty
Alleviation Minister, in his letter
dated 14 March, 2013 has requested the PM that a decision be “taken on
priority” for constitution of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. He is playing a leading role in endorsing the
Central government employees’ request for setting up of the new pay panel. He
is of the view that a situation of erosion of real wages has arisen due to high
inflation since implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission’s recommendations.
In his said letter Sh. Maken underlined
how every pay panel since the Second Pay Commission, barring the Sixth Pay
Commission, were set up in the third year of the decade. He, interalia, has
written that “We are again in the third year of the ongoing decade and Central
government employees are justifiably looking forward to the Seventh Pay
Commission". He also wrote that a notification for constitution of the 7th
Central Pay Commission is the need of the bour, which is bound to have bearing
upon about 20 million employees.
As regards about 1000 CSOLS members, this
Association is equally keen to have 7th CPC constituted at an early date with
the hope of getting the 2nd Cadre-Review done by the 7th CPC and erosion of pay
anomalies.
